Our Story . . .

Having arrived in Canada as Assyrian refugees in 1988, Glades and Kaia decided to open a take-out pizzeria in 2001. Blending the taste of their adopted country (the 'pizza') with the traditional flavours of their homeland—like shawarma (the 'grill')—and naming the shop after their first son, Carlo's Pizza & Grill was born. We are a literal mom-and-pop shop!

Serving Stoney Creek Mountain and the surrounding area, we were first located on Upper Mt. Albion between Paramount and Highland. Glades and Kaia often worked open to close for seven days a week and business was going well but, in late 2004, sudden and unplanned circumstances meant packing up our equipment in storage and leaving the original Mt. Albion location.

Two months later in early 2005, we opened our hastily-relocated shop down the road on Leckie, a very hard-to-find location hidden away among residential housing. There, many of our loyal customers from the Mt. Albion location found us while we continued to gain new ones.

At the Leckie location, everything worked out well and business grew steadily—almost all through word-of-mouth. After a decade working to capacity in the small shop, we decided to move to a brand-new and larger shop in early 2016 only a few minutes away by car: the Fletcher Square location on the corner of Rymal and Fletcher.

To this day, the shop is still independently-owned and -operated by the original family. We often recognize many of our long-time customers by name, some going as far back as the early days at the Leckie location or even the Mt. Albion location! We give credit to and thank our customers, old or new, for the continued love and strong support which brought us to where we are today. We look forward to continuing to serve you all in the years to come!
